Why Climate Group?
I chose to work at Climate Group because I wanted to be part of an organization that drives real, systemic change in the fight against climate change. Climate Group’s focus on bold, scalable solutions and its ability to continually bring together businesses, governments, and civil society to accelerate action resonated with me very deeply.
What does a regular day for you as an Engagment Officer look like?
I spend most of my days engaging with key stakeholders across the climate community, including policymakers, corporate sustainability leaders, nonprofit organizations, and grassroots advocates. My role at the Climate Group revolves around identifying new strategic partnerships that drive meaningful action. Specifically, I focus on discovering new opportunities for collaboration within our flagship North America programs, namely the US Climate Action Summit and Climate Week NYC. This involves conducting targeted research to identify emerging leaders and organizations aligned with our mission, initiating conversations through personalized outreach, and leveraging our events to build new relationships for the organization.
What do you enjoy most about working at Climate Group?
Climate Group's global network is incredibly vast, so I enjoy getting to interact with the most brilliant leaders in the climate space, especially during Climate Week. Moreover, my colleagues make work really fun for me every day. The work culture here is built on a foundation of trust, uplifting one another, and having shared goals. I really love that I get to work in an environment where I can grow both professionally and personally.
What have you learnt from working at Climate Group?
I have learned to not be afraid of saying hello! To make progress in a role like mine, you have to be open to connecting with people, proactively reaching out, and responding to other people's outreach no matter how big or small. I've learned that the best ideas, partnerships and opportunities come from simply striking up a conversation. You really never know where things can go.
Who or what inspires you in your line of work?
Climate change isn’t just an environmental issue—it’s about the future of humanity. I’m motivated by the need to protect ecosystems and ensure that communities, especially those most vulnerable, have access to solutions that work for them. Whether through science, policy, or nature-based solutions, I see climate work as an opportunity to create a more sustainable and equitable world. It's the very least we can do as inhabitants of this planet.
How do you stay motivated to keep driving climate action, fast?
I stay motivated by remembering one thing: Progress is not linear. In the fight against climate change, some days we'll collectively move forward, and other days some external factors will drag us backwards. Recognizing that sometimes there's no straight path to progress helps avoid that feeling of defeat.
