Climate Group responds to the 2024 US Presidential Election

Written by Angela Barranco, Executive Director, North America | Nov 8, 2024 12:00:00 AM

Following Tuesday’s election of Donald Trump as the next President of the United States, Climate Group stands with a broad coalition of US public and private sector leaders driving momentum forward on US climate action no matter what. In this new era, Climate Group’s mission and work grows even more important to ensure US climate action moves forward fast.

Climate Group leads a coalition of state governments, private sector leaders, and international partners committed to driving meaningful progress on climate solutions. Regardless of Federal leadership, we will continue to work with a diverse set of US climate leaders from across the public and private sector to solve the biggest climate challenges today including transportation, heavy industry, health, and IRA implementation, as well as and collaborating with Latino and other communities at the forefront of the climate crisis. Climate change is clear and present, and communities across the US are experiencing the impacts of extreme weather events, heatwaves, and sea level rise firsthand. The importance of US climate leadership from the states and private sector can’t be underestimated as the second largest contributor of global emissions.

“The climate crisis is here now, and climate change is one of the most critical issues of our time. We are seeing extreme weather events and unrelenting heat waves across the country every day and we cannot lose momentum on the progress we have made towards a clean energy future,” commented Angela Barranco, Executive Director for Climate Group North America. “Climate Group leads a powerful coalition of state and private sector leaders working together to ensure we continue the transition to clean energy and equitable investment in the resilience of all communities impacted by climate change. The work to stop climate change must continue - we cannot afford to fail.”
