ConcreteZero 2025 Impact Report: Turning ambition into measurable impact

Three years since its launch, ConcreteZero has grown into a global movement driving the decarbonisation of one of the world’s most emissions-intensive materials.

Concrete accounts for 7% of global greenhouse gas emissions, yet its climate impact has long been overlooked. This report marks a pivotal moment to reflect on progress, share member achievements, and set the course for the next phase of action. 

A Growing Coalition for Change 

ConcreteZero brings together companies that use, specify, or procure concrete - creating a powerful demand signal to transform global markets, investments, and policies. Members include leading organizations from construction, engineering, design, architecture, development, and other major concrete-using sectors, all driving innovation and accountability in their concrete use.

Through collaborative workstreams, reporting pilots, and specification guidance, members are not only reducing emissions but also reshaping industry norms.

Key Highlights to Date 

• 4.7 million m³ of concrete reported by members between July 2023 and December 2024
• 600+ mix designs and 130+ projects covered in member reporting
• 68% of members participated in the reporting pilot, with over 1 million m³ measured at project level
• ConcreteZero thresholds now aligned with global frameworks, influencing policy and standards
• Member-led innovations include mix optimisation, embodied carbon clauses in specifications, and real-time carbon monitoring 

What’s Next 

ConcreteZero is focused on helping the industry move faster and further in cutting concrete emissions. In the next phase, we’ll be working with members and partners to: 

• Shape better standards for how low-carbon concrete is defined and used
• Support new technologies that offer alternatives to traditional materials
• Make carbon data more useful for companies and investors
• Collaborate across sectors to share knowledge and overcome barriers
