The Copernicus Global Climate Highlights Report stated that 2025 was the third hottest year on record, marking the first time a three-year period has exceeded the 1.5°C limit.
In response, Helen Clarkson, CEO of Climate Group, said:
“The writing’s on the wall - with an average of 1.5 degrees warming over the past three years, the warnings of scientists are becoming a dangerous reality. We’re witnessing human-driven warming in real time.
Major economies that refuse to act are putting their own economic security in jeopardy. Energy and food security, the ability to insure our homes, economic productivity, it's all at risk.
Too many leaders are propping up fossil fuels, blocking people and businesses from accessing the cost savings and benefits of cheap, clean energy. But we can break this trend: accelerate the transition to renewables, electric cars and clean electrification."
