Welcome to our employee interview series. Read on for a glimpse into what working at Climate Group looks like.

Why Climate Group?

I very much believe that to tackle the climate crisis we need to work within the current capitalist framework we have and to do it at speed. I really believe in Climate Group's approach in mobilising corporates around climate action, as we have huge resources at their disposal and can do it at pace. It also fits well with my previous study that looked at corporate sustainability, so felt like a natural fit.

What does a regular day look like for you as a Senior RE100 Campaign Manager?

There isn’t a regular day; it’s all so varied but my role plays to my strengths in project management, so is something I both enjoy and am good at. I deal with the governance of the campaign, the funding of the campaign and facilitating the collaboration of the team so I can be in a meeting with senior people at Climate Group or our member corporates in the morning and budgeting in the afternoon. I love the variety of the role.

What do you enjoy most about working at Climate Group?

I feel like this is a bit of a cliché, but it’s 110% the people. I feel like I have found my tribe at Climate Group and love hanging out with colleagues both in and out of work. Everyone is incredibly passionate about what we do and so well informed.

What have you learnt from your time here?

My role at Climate Group was a movement in my career from a role I didn’t really care about, into a role involving something I’m passionate about. I’ve learned that when you pair your skillset with your passion that’s so powerful. Climate Group also gives you space to make your role your own and is a great place to develop so I also feel like I’m always growing which I’ve learnt, is important to me.

Who or what inspires you in your work?

I’m inspired by the fact that you can tackle the climate crisis from so many different angles. It’s such a multidimensional issue that’s going to take multidimensional solutions so we’re all equipped with some knowledge or skillset that can help. I find it so inspiring when I see, meet or experience someone who has come at the climate crisis on their terms to deliver a solution. If we mobilise ourselves around the issue, I know we can solve it.

How do you stay motivated to keep driving climate action, fast?

I love the work that I do and the impact that the campaign that I’m involved with creates. RE100 meets with governments and policy makers on a regular basis to help them understand what corporates need to shift to 100% renewables. I feel we’re often in ‘the room where it happens’, so believe that my small contribution helps to create systems level change.
