Welcome to our employee interview series. Read on for a glimpse into what working at Climate Group looks like.

,

Why Climate Group?

Simply put, it’s because of the global nature of Climate Group and the strength of its corporate and government networks. Added to that, it’s the best working environment I have been a part of, with a strong mission.

What does a regular day look like for you as a Senior Manager?

Every day is exciting, no matter what it brings. I'm constantly speaking with so many external stakeholders based all over the world – India, Japan, Europe, the US, just to name a few. We’re workshopping solutions, discussing collaborations, exchanging insights and even developing frameworks for implementation.

It’s all driving real impact and influencing a progressive momentum on climate action. Being a part of this larger tapestry is what motivates me each day.

What do you enjoy most about working at Climate Group?

So many things. At the heart of it, it’s the passion of the people at Climate Group and our clear mission that we’re successfully delivering on. The working environment is collaborative, purposeful and centred on actions leading to change.

The overall credibility of Climate Group allows me to step into so many forums and meetings with highly relevant and high-level officials - and we're listened to.

What have you learnt from your time here?

Most directly and importantly, I’ve learned about a whole new industry – steel.

I’ve learned about policies and politics, about trade and regulations, a great deal about regional and market driven responses to climate action (or even inaction). When there's a challenge or obstacle, we learn to work more creatively to find solutions.

And then it’s the access to Climate Group networks, the platforms I’m able to join, and the conversations I’m in with leading experts and influential voices that allow me to grow my knowledge.

Who or what inspires you in your work?

Personally, I grew up in a part of the world where livelihoods came from the environment – plantations, farming, the rivers – and I saw firsthand the impact of climate change. I also saw the power of resilience and community action, and this drove me to always work in a purpose- and mission-driven environment where my actions count towards something grander than us all.

How do you stay motivated to keep driving climate action, fast?

We’re changing the traditional business-as-usual practices in high carbon emitting industries and sectors. The prospect to drive these conversations for the benefit of our one planet, develop solutions and create opportunities for collaborative advocacy and implementation is what keeps me motivated.

Every activity and engagement we undertake is an integral piece in the puzzle.
