Climate Group brings key decision makers to Opportunity Summit, supported by Mayor of London

London, 21 April 2026 – As energy security has catapulted to the top of business and government agendas, Climate Group is bringing together around 150 key decision makers for its first Opportunity Summit at London Climate Action Week. The Summit will focus on the urgent decisions Europe is facing to strengthen its competitive position and its clean, homegrown energy supply.

On 23 June, supported by the Mayor of London, the hand-picked group will delve deep into the opportunities the energy transition can bring to London, the UK, and Europe, in a world in turmoil.

London is one of Europe’s global hubs for trade, the green finance capital of the world and home to key leaders in government, international business, innovation, and the financial sector. By bringing them together at the Opportunity Summit, supported by the Mayor of London, Climate Group aims to tackle urgent system-level barriers together: grid capacity, permitting and supply chain issues, investment signals, and scalable innovation.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan said:

“London is leading the way on climate action, including creating the world's largest clean air zone. The Opportunity Summit will bring together leaders from all sectors to continue driving forward the urgent action needed to tackle climate change and help deliver a greener, fairer London for everyone.”

Climate Group is the organiser of Climate Week NYC, the largest climate event of its kind. Within London Climate Action Week, the Opportunity Summit will provide businesses, government, and civil society leaders with a space to decide how to speed up deployment, and position themselves in the new-energy economy.

The Opportunity Summit will include:

  • How the UK and Europe could turn clean energy into an advantage in the age of electrification
  • Europe’s powerful AI playbook – how to unlock levers for an efficient and sustainable AI future
  • Resilient infrastructure
  • Navigating EU and UK regulatory shifts
  • Making London and its communities better adapted to the impacts of climate change
  • Subnational governments already leading the way in decarbonising their economies, showing nations what is possible

Helen Clarkson OBE, CEO of Climate Group, said:

“The conflict in the Gulf has shown how much Europe still depends on fossil fuels, and how that leaves it vulnerable. There’s only one way out – speeding up the transition, investing in solutions, and seizing opportunities that set it apart from Asia and the US. Clean tech and electrification are reshaping global competitiveness, and battery storage is unlocking so many ways to be energy-smart. To explore how Europe can be at that forefront, we need all levels of government together with corporate leaders – so that’s who we’re bringing together at the Opportunity Summit.”
