Champa Patel, Executive Director of Governments and Policy, said:
“Mexico’s NDC 3.0 sends a clear signal that the country intends to stay aligned with global climate ambition. The new 2035 absolute emissions target, alongside strengthened renewable electricity goals and updated transport standards, provides much-needed clarity for companies and investors. Crucially, the NDC recognises the role of states and improved coordination, laying the foundation for stronger multi-level climate governance.
Through initiatives like RE100, EV100, and the Under2 Coalition, Climate Group will continue to support states and businesses in Mexico to realise its climate goals. By helping companies commit to 100% renewable electricity, electrify fleets, and strengthen subnational climate leadership, these programs provide the frameworks and networks needed to turn ambition into tangible action.
Mexico now has an opportunity to lead the region by turning this renewed ambition into concrete implementation across the economy. We look forward to working with the government to unlock investment, scale solutions, and drive a real transition from the ground up.”
